It’s not uncommon for homeowners to wait until there are obvious signs before calling. The majority of AC related calls we get from homeowners are when their home can no longer reach a comfortable temperature or their system completely stops working. Unfortunately, waiting could mean more problems, more repairs, and more money spent down the road. In order to know what to look for before it’s too late.

If something happens to one part of your AC system, it might not shut down immediately, but it will begin to affect other areas.
Decreased efficiency means increased operating costs. A malfunctioning machine that is working hard to keep you cool requires longer running time, which eats up energy. With professional maintenance, you can get cooler air with less power.
Of all the factors that could extend your HVAC’s useful life, nothing is more important than maintenance. Some of the most important tasks that can extend your HVAC lifespan are easy, fast, and inexpensive. Doing these things will likely cut your energy usage and give you more years of trouble-free operation
Clean air filters are essential to having healthy air in your home. They can get clogged with pet hair, dirt and debris–not to mention germs–over time. Your HVAC system will have to work harder than normal to move air through your house if you don’t have clean filters. They are generally not very expensive, are easy to find, and don’t take a lot of skill to swap out. That makes them easy to replace often for healthy home air and a healthy HVAC.
Our AC service is all about our customers and our customers know us best for the peace of mind we deliver to homes. Our goal is to fix your immediate problems and prevent them from ever happening again by addressing their root cause. Ours has long been the name the people of Alexandria call upon for reliable service and quality results that ultimately save the day – and last for years to come.

It may not always be evident that your air conditioning system has a problem, but by knowing the signs beforehand, you may be able to avoid a complete breakdown.
HVAC stands for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. It refers to the systems that regulate and move heated and cooled air throughout residential and commercial buildings, from homes to offices to indoor stadiums.
Just like regular service visits help extend the life of your car, annual HVAC maintenance can extend the life of your heating and AC equipment. This can help you avoid premature replacements and allows you to get as many years as possible out of your furnace, boiler, air conditioner, heat pump, or mini split.
The answers is: it depends. Typical recommendations range from every 30 days for cheaper fiberglass filters (which often don’t do a great job of filtering), to as long as 6 months for higher-end pleated filters. These estimates assume average use and take into account the type and size of your filter.
Change your furnace filter regularly. Avoid burning in your home, including fireplaces, wood stoves, gas appliances, and candles. Avoid chemicals such as air fresheners, sprays and cleaning products or use a healthier option. Vacuum your rugs and carpets regularly.
The Department of Energy recommends replacing your HVAC system after 10 years for maximum efficiency. Some newer units may last up to 15 years, so be sure to check when yours was installed and ask a professional how long it should last.
An HVAC zoning system divides your home into multiple zones, each controlled by its own thermostat. This allows you to set each room to the ideal temperature for you, instead of having to heat or cool the entire home to just one temperature.
We are dedicated to making sure our community receives excellent AC service, and we go above and beyond to make it happen.
